What the monitor is showing
Measured water conditions
USGS instantaneous values are provisional and may be revised. Stage and streamflow retain separate timestamps, ages, and comparison intervals.
Condition classification
Normal, rising, and unavailable use fresh stage or flow observations. Trends qualify as approximately 24-hour comparisons only when the actual interval is 21 to 27 hours.
Weather alerts
Active National Weather Service alerts are filtered to the Western Pennsylvania coverage box when geometry is available. Alerts without drawable geometry remain visible in the list.
Regional weather
Pittsburgh, Erie, Johnstown, and Bradford stations represent southwestern, northwestern, Laurel Highlands, and north-central conditions. Values remain station-specific and are not averaged.
Air quality
AirNow current values use permanent monitoring sites inside the coverage box, which may include nearby Maryland, Ohio, or West Virginia monitors. The highest current pollutant AQI is the regional summary; forecasts are labeled separately with the reporting area returned by AirNow.
